Examples of use (automotive)

Engine valve shafts with GST coating

Partial surface treatment of the shafts of engine valves to protect against wear: plating in closed system using GST (Gramm Selective Technology) with high accuracy and savings in chemicals.

  • High dimensioning precision: +/-10% of final coating thickness
  • Leading to avoidance of overplating (30% savings in chemicals and energy)
  • 25 to 30 % higher process efficiency from better use of current and shorter plating times
  • No further mechanical treatment necessary
  • Surface either crack-free or with micro-cracks
  • GST plant design goes back 15 years
  • Plant requires approx. 1/10 of the space of conventional plating equipment
  • Plating process can be integrated into manufacturing flow
  • High safety level for workers and plant (vacuum design and closed cycles)
  • Closed system avoids open baths and need for extractors/waste management
